Chaos ensues everywhere they look: the historic graveyard is unusually lively, the abandoned mall is swarming with reporters, the horror movie set is more terrifying than the movie will be, and the haunted cruise ship has been docked due to safety concerns. With so many mysterious things going on, the gang decides to split up and investigate. Each of them finds one of the following clues: footprints leading away from the scene, a blurry photograph of a suspect and the victim, a torn love letter, and a strand of bright orange hair.

Clues:

1. One meddling kid noticed a similarity between the photo they found and a costume piece on the leading actress.
2. Daphne did not have the photo or the hair strand.
3. Velma and Shaggy both get motion sick on boats, even if they’re docked.
4. Fred spent 45 minutes looking at tread patterns; he concluded that it was most likely a print from a hiking boot.
5. Believe it or not, Shaggy isn’t a fan of scary movies.
6. Daphne has the perfect outfit for any situation, even walking alone in a graveyard at midnight.
7. Velma has a magnifying glass on her at all times, perfect for analyzing hair. Too bad the meddling kid who found the orange strands forgot their magnifying glass in the van.
